December "Tips From Tats" - Pani Popo

Looking for a holiday dessert to impress guests at your holiday parties? Pani Popo (Pah’-knee Poh-Poh) is a delicious and easy Polynesian Dessert that we love!


Ingredients

  • King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls OR refrigerated biscuits OR frozen dinner rolls 

  • (1) 13.5oz Can of coconut milk + (1) can of water (use the can)

  • (1) Cup of white sugar

  • (2) Tablespoons cornstarch

  • (2) Tablespoons of water

  • 9” x 13” Cake pan

Instructions


If using King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  • Add can of coconut milk, can of water, and cup of sugar into medium saucepan and bring to a boil

  • In the meantime, add cornstarch to water and mix until smooth

  • Once the ingredients in the saucepan are boiling, add cornstarch mixture and reduce heat to simmer for at least 3-5 minutes

  • Arrange the King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls into the cake pan

  • Pour milk mixture over Sweetbread and put in the oven for 15-minutes

If using pre-made biscuit dough or frozen rolls:

  • Prepare either biscuits or rolls per the instructions

  • While your biscuits or rolls are baking, make the milk mixture

  • Add can of coconut milk, can of water, and cup of sugar into medium saucepan and bring to boil

  • In the meantime, add cornstarch to water and mix until smooth

  • Once the ingredients in the saucepan are boiling, add cornstarch mixture and reduce heat to simmer for at least 3-5 minutes

  • IMPORTANT: Take the biscuits or the rolls out 3-minutes before they are supposed to be done

  • Pour milk mixture over biscuits or rolls and continue cooking for the remainder of the baking time
