October "Tips From Tats" - Awards Luncheon?!
Typically award recognitions are held in the evening in the form of a gala. Recently we were presented with the potential of extreme weather circumstances which meant our evening gala would need to be changed or canceled, as the room we were in was made of glass, and a storm was scheduled to hit in the evening. There was full production and absolutely gorgeous décor that was potentially going to go to waste.
However, as a team in collaboration with our client, the idea of moving our gala dinner to a gala lunch was born and soon became a reality. It turned out to be a phenomenal event and we were able to beat the storm! After that experience we realized that this could be a great option for some clients. It lead to an early night before departure day. It gave attendees the remainder of the day to converse and spend time at the resort. The meal, while served at lunchtime, was very substantial, consisting of four courses, so light refreshments were perfect for later in the day instead of a large meal. A gala at lunch is not traditional, but, non-traditional is becoming the new traditional. We learned that it’s okay to be different!
